Qiyuan Crab Yolk Bun
As a traditional local snack with a history of over 300 years, the Qiyuan Crab Yolk Bun is made with crab yolk (from large, fat, and yolk-rich female crabs in Yancheng's Xixiang Lake), pork, and fine flour. The bun, famous far and near for its delicious taste, is available at more than 10 restaurants and teahouses, including "Qiyu", "Shengxin", "Wenjin", and "Wenqu". Crab yolk buns sold at Qiyuan Restaurant are the best, hence the name.
Dazhong Lake Drunken Crab
Dazhong Lake Drunken Crab, which belongs to the Jiangsu cuisine system, is a traditional dish at Dazhong Lake Town of Yancheng. The dish uses large crabs with rich yolk. After being washed clean, the crabs are cooked with ingredients such as Qu liquor, rice wine, Huai salt, and Sichuan pepper. The dish features a vivid appearance, delicate meat, mellow taste, intoxicating aroma, refreshing wine, and rich nutrition. Wuyou Drunken Snail
Wuyou Drunken Snail, a dish of pickled mud snails from the beach, dates back to the Ming Dynasty. The dish is characterized by soft and transparent shells, a strong liquor aroma, a flavor neither too salty nor too sweet, and tender and delicious meat, making it a perfect match with wine. Wuyou Drunken Snail is made of mud snails, known as "soft gold", from the Yellow Sea beach. With stringent procedures, the dish has been favored by more and more people on both sides of the Yangtze River.
Funing Cake, also known as Yudai Cake, Best Yudai Cake, is a traditional cake in the Funing area. Produced in Funing County of Yancheng, the hometown of Chinese prose, the cake is white as snow, soft as clouds, and sweet as honey. Mainly made of glutinous rice flour, Funing Cake is very delicious, rich in nutrition, and suitable for the old and young alike.
Four-gilled perch, one of the famous specialties in Jiangsu province, mainly inhabits in the middle and lower reaches of the Guanhe River. A common four-gilled perch weighs around 2 kilograms, but some big ones may weigh over 5 kilograms. The fish, blue-gray in color with black spots on both sides and dorsal fins, actually has only two gills. However, the fish has a deep fold on each of its gill covers, which looks like a gill, hence the name. Four-gilled perch features tender and delicious meat that is as white as snow and delicate. It has less fish bones and no fishy smell. The dish can produce a lingering fragrance and a pleasant aftertaste after being eaten.
Dongtai Noodles with Fish Soup
Dongtai Noodles with Fish Soup, one of the traditional snacks in Dongtai, has a history of more than 200 years. The snack requires extraordinary craftsmanship for preparation and is well known far and near. Fresh crucian carp and eel bones are cooked with lard, ginger, onion, shrimp, and other condiments to make the noodle soup. The soup made this way is thick like milk and can drip like beads.
